You are cordially invited to join Music Portland’s First Monday with LEAP: Leadership, Equity and Advocacy Program. We would like to take this opportunity to introduce our community to the LEAP co-directors, to share our drive and mission behind this program and to facilitate dialogue aimed at forging paths of equity in our beautiful city.
LEAP (Leadership, Equity and Advocacy Project) is the arm of MusicPortland that is dedicated to identifying equity issues within Portland’s music scene and working with all facets of our community to promote the growth of inclusive and diverse experiences and opportunities. In a time when the live music industry is paused, we see a real opportunity for assessment and commitment to a more equitable and just industry through re-opening and beyond.
Joining us will be members of the Portland music scene who will share their experiences creating and operating as BIPOC music professionals. We hope to encourage solution-oriented conversations to gather as much information as possible and use it to work with the city and community to establish culturally inclusive platforms.
Please join us in the first of many opportunities to speak up and make a difference.
Our monthly event brings together people from all parts of our music ecology to update you on our work, present useful information, and create community. Join us to Unite, Defend, and Amplify Portland music.
This virtual meet-up will include:
MusicPortland update from LEAP Co-directors David “O.G.ONE” Jackson and Sarah Clarke
Guest speakers TBA
An optional break-out session to catch up with your peers in the music community
Times are hard. You are not alone.
