LiveSET – Sound Engineering for Teens!

LiveSET is an exciting program for Portland-area youth of high school age (14-18) to get real-world, practical training in the art and science of sound engineering from top professionals in the field. LiveSET is hosting another cohort this spring, with applications due on March 27 at 8 am.

Chosen applicants will attend workshops on acoustics, gain, signal flow, setting up a PA system, and more, getting hands-on work with sound equipment. The series will culminate in a showcase where students run the sound for a performance or lead a recording session, depending on the program.

This is a one-of-a-kind chance for young musicians, music fans, engineers, technical artists, and creative types of all kinds to learn a valuable and employable skill: how to make live music and amplified audio sound its best in performance settings.

Ten students will be chosen to join this cohort with priority given to students of color and students who do not identify as male in an effort to balance the current statistic that over 90% of sound engineers identify as white males.
