LEAP THIRD THURSDAY ROUNDTABLE.png

Join us for a monthly roundtable to discuss our equitable path forward within the Portland music industry. This ongoing event will be a roundtable-style discussion where we invite the BIPOC community, and BIPOC allies, to voice their thoughts and ideas on how we can create a more inviting, just, and inclusive music ecology.

COVID has largely silenced music. But even in the face of so much loss and sadness, it provides a unique opportunity to identify inequities and bias in our local music scene and advocate for positive change. In the last two years, MusicPortland has proven that by standing up together, armed with our collected stories and clear recommendations for improvement, rapid change is possible.

MusicPortland is a grassroots nonprofit that works exclusively to create a music city where everyone has a chance to thrive as a music professional. MusicPortland has established productive lobbying relationships with policymakers, governing departments and agencies, private sector allies, and music industry gatekeepers.

MusicPortland LEAP (Leadership Equity Advocacy Project) was established in December to spearhead all equity initiatives within MusicPortand and to confirm that all of MusicPortland’s work is justice-informed and supportive. Co-Directors, DJ O.G. One, and Sarah Clarke lead this program to RECOGNIZE, RE-IMAGINE, and EMPOWER all under-served communities within our music culture.
