Having access to mental health support and wellness resources is fundamental to our ability to sustain an active relationship/career in music. MusicPortland and the AFM Musicians Union Local 99 have teamed up to bring you these supportive resources in an easy-to-navigate way.

  • Quest Center for Integrative Health – 503-238-5203Community mental health agency and alcohol and drug treatment services provider where half of staff and clinicians identify as LGBTQ. Currently six month waiting list for mental health services. Accepts Oregon Health Plan.

  • Trevor Project (Crisis Intervention and Suicide Prevention for LGBTQ Youth) 1-866-488-7386,
  • Cascade AIDS Project – 503-223-5907. Cascade AIDS Project(CAP) is the oldest and largest provider of HIV services in the Pacific Northwest. CAP provides services around health, prevention, testing, housing, and employment for individuals affected by HIV. CAP also provides Peer Support for HIV+ individuals who also require mental health services or linkage to care.
  • NAMI Clackamas – 503-344-5050 LGBTQ peer support services in Clackamas and Multnomah Counties, including one-on-one peer support.
  • Northwest Gender Alliance – 503-533-8787 A nonprofit social, support and educational group for trans individuals.
  • Outside In – 503-535-3828. A coalition of medical and naturopathic doctors and interns, acupuncturists, and Chinese herbalists who provide multidisciplinary primary care to homeless youth and low-income individuals lacking health insurance in Portland. Specific trans nights offered.
  • The Q Center – 503-234-7837A LGBTQ community center in Portland with a variety of support and affinity groups and events.
  • The Triangle Project at Cascadia – 503-674-7777LGBTQ-specific mental health and addictions treatment, offered at Cascadia Plaza location in Portland. Call 503-674-7777 and mention that you are seeking LGBTQ-specific treatment. Accepts Oregon Health Plan.
  • Basic Rights Oregon – 503-222-6151 Has resources explaining Oregon Health Plan coverage for trans health care and assists with reporting discrimination.

  • Asian Health & Service Center – 503-872-8822, State-certified outpatient behavioral health clinic specializing in serving the Asian community. Clinical services are provided by a team of bilingual professionals and contracted psychiatrists. Clients may also access onsite, low-cost naturopathic clinic and Chinese Medicine clinics weekly.
  • Avel Gordly Center for Healing – 503-494-4745, A multicultural, adult outpatient treatment clinic offering culturally-specific services for clients identifying with African, African-American, and Southeast Asian cultures. Treats many disorders including depression, anxiety, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress, bipolar and psychotic disorders, substance abuse/dependence, and gambling.
  • Deaf, Hard of Hearing Services – 503-494-4745 Tricounty services for the deaf: TTY 503-238-0148.Relay services for the deaf: 800-735-2900 (call them and they will use TTY to interpret for you).

The JWF Musicians’ Emergency Healthcare Program assists individual musicians from Oregon and Clark County, Washington or their dependents when faced with a medical crisis.

  • The Jeremy Wilson Foundation’s Social Services team helps musicians identify and qualify for additional local, state, or national assistance programs. Contact JWF Social Worker Here. Allow 24 to 48 hours for a response.

  • Backline’s case managers will work one-on-one to get you mental health and wellness resources you need to keep going. Contact Backline Case Manager Here. In addition, their program Come Together: Crisis Initiative includes bi-weekly support groups, meditation, breathwork, yoga and more to support the music industry in this time.

  • Backline Support Group: Mondays & Thursday at 2:30 PM Pacific on Zoom. A safe place for people to come together and talk about what it means to work in the music industry in today’s global climate. Moderated by two licensed clinicians who lead a group meditation to close each session. Learn more.
